On Sunday 5th of June, as part of our East Street Party, talented locals will be performing in front of a panel of judges and a huge raffle will take place to raise money for local charity, Cystic Fibrosis Supporters. Our judging panel will be made up of X factor winner Matt Terry, professional vocal coach Georg Tormann, and Churchill Theatre Director Chris Glover.
Matt won the hearts of the nation in 2016 having emerged victorious on the biggest TV talent show in the UK. Garnering the attention of millions, Matt performed critically acclaimed renditions of classic hits by the likes of legendary artists including Ben E King and Prince, but to name a few. Plaudits commended his impressive vocal range, in particular his notably high falsetto and soulful tones.
His Ed Sheeran penned debut went straight into the Top 5 of the UK charts, prior to a string of mainstream successes which included Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul collaboration “Subemé La Radio”. Matt’s biggest streaming success came with “Sucker For You” which to date has accumulated over 110 million global streams. Aside from music, Matt has a significant social media presence across platforms with a strong media interest / profile, particularly in the UK.
An avid-songwriter, Matt has spent the past two years penning his highly anticipated sophomore record which is due for release in 2022 which he has described as “his most honest music” and “proudest career work” to date. Collaborating with international producers including YK (YelloKoala), Matt has started to tease some of the music at a select number of intimate shows which encompasses R&B, soul and hip-hop influences
Georg has been a professional vocalist for 30 years. Graduating from Goldsmiths College, University of London with a Bmus Degree he went on to tour the UK and America with London City Opera and The Royal Carl Rosa Opera companies. He also performed widely as a jazz pianist and Big band vocalist in the hit shows ‘Music to watch girls by’ and ‘The Kings of Swing’ and in Musicals where his roles included Tony in West Side Story, Curly in Oklahoma, Joe in Sunset Boulevard and Anatoly in Chess.
He has been a vocal coach at the World famous BRIT school where students have included Ella Eyre, Kelli-Leigh, Adele, Jessie J and Amy Winehouse for the last 22 years.
He was a judge on the Saturday night, BBC 1 singing competition ‘All together now’ along with Gerri Halliwell (horner) in 2018 and 2019.
