Comedian and TV presenter, Tom Allen, topped off a day full of entertainment and excitement in Bromley town centre on Sunday 17th November, marking the start of the Christmas season, at our event.
The ‘Extra Slice’ host and stand up star joined Local Hero, Rob Warburton who won the opportunity to turn the lights on for his work coaching children’s rugby at Westcombe Park Rugby Club, and host Adam Hoffman.
The entertainment began just before midday when Adam joined The Grinch and Cindy Lou in The Glades, before moving to the stage in Market Square where there were performances from local dance and performing arts schools including Danceworxs, All the Arts, Skylark, GDND and Studio 74.
They were followed by performances from singers Iona McBain and Oliver Anderson plus the local Rock Choir.
Finally, Kent based band, Whiskey & Wine, took to the stage and got the crowd singing and dancing to festive songs and well known covers, building up excitement before the town centre lights were switched on as darkness fell.
Tom commented: “I was really excited to turn on the lights in my hometown of Bromley. It was really special for me to be part of this festive celebration.”
Frances Forrest, Your Bromley BID Manager, added: “It was brilliant to have Tom Allen turning on the lights this year. Tom grew up in Bromley and still lives in the area and talks very fondly of the town centre. He really entertained the crowd and brought fun and laughter to the event. The lights switch on marks the start of the Christmas season in Bromley and our town centre is ready to welcome people doing their Christmas shopping, enjoying The Churchill’s pantomime, leisure activities, or out celebrating in one of Bromley’s incredible restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars.”
