Rhino Boulder Becomes Not for Profit, Reinforcing Its Commitment to Community, Access, and Modern Climbing Culture.
Rhino Boulder, Bromley’s climbing gym located in the town centre, has officially transitioned to a not for profit organisation, marking an important step in its commitment to people, community, and a modern, inclusive approach to climbing.
The move does not change how Rhino Boulder operates day to day, nor the experience climbers know and love. Instead, it formalises a shift from profit to purpose. All surplus revenue will now be reinvested directly back into the organisation, supporting staff, improving facilities, raising the quality of route setting, and growing community programmes.
Managing Director Thomas Broggi said, “Rhino Boulder has always been about more than climbing. It is a social space, a place to challenge yourself, and somewhere people feel they belong. Becoming a not for profit allows every pound spent here to go straight back into our community, our team, and the experience on the wall.”
The new structure enables Rhino Boulder to expand its impact through youth development, adaptive and inclusive climbing sessions, and initiatives that lower barriers to participation, while protecting the gym’s long term mission as an open and welcoming space.
Operations Director Henning Muller added, “Climbing looks intimidating, but once you try it, it clicks very quickly. It is fun, creative, and surprisingly social. You do not need to be super strong or athletic to start, and you definitely do not need to know what you are doing. Come in with friends, try a few climbs, have a laugh, and you will see why so many people get hooked.”
Members and visitors will continue to see investment in new routes, facilities, equipment, and staff development, with improvements guided by what the community actually wants rather than shareholder returns.
Rhino Boulder invites the local community to come in, give climbing a go, bring friends, and be part of a growing space that combines sport, creativity, and community.
