Tell us about you and where we can find you. Rhino Boulder is a brand new climbing gym for the London South East population. But we are not just a climbing gym; we’re building a community that merges active lifestyles with social and work spaces. Located right in Bromley’s heart, we’ve created a space for those who enjoy the thrill of climbing, the camaraderie of social events, and the productivity of a coworking café, all under one roof. You can find us at The Mall in Bromley, where we’re redefining the high street experience for our customers.

How long have you worked here? Rhino Boulder Ltd is a relatively young venture, but our vision has been a work in progress for over three years. After an extensive search for the perfect location and countless hours of planning and preparation, we officially opened our doors in December 2023 and have since seen fantastic growth and community support.

What makes Rhino Boulder Ltd unique? Why should people visit? Rhino Boulder Ltd is more than a climbing gym—it’s a lifestyle hub. With London’s largest climbing gym café, we offer a unique blend of high-quality climbing facilities, fun courses, yoga, coworking options, and a cozy café with fresh, locally sourced food. We continuously innovate with new climbing courses, community events, and even a coworking expansion, all tailored to provide an exceptional experience. Our dedication to creating a welcoming and inspiring environment is what keeps our members coming back and draws in new faces every day.

What makes Bromley town centre a great place to own a business? Bromley has the right blend of community spirit and vibrancy that makes it an exciting location for our unique concept. We’re proud to be a part of the local business community, which feels like a big family, supporting each other and contributing to a thriving town centre. Bromley’s accessibility and mix of locals and visitors provide the ideal foundation for our climbing and coworking community to grow. For a climbing centre, we are also in an enviable position as we are only 5 mins from a major train station, on many of the main bus lines and just under a big car park which makes us very accessible.

How did you get into this line of work? The inspiration for Rhino Boulder Ltd came from mine and Henning’s passion for both climbing and creating community spaces. We saw an opportunity to introduce something Bromley didn’t yet have—a climbing gym combined with a social and professional environment. My background in business management and Henning’s extensive experience in the climbing industry helped bring this vision to life, but it’s the community and customers who inspire us to keep innovating and growing.

What has been the biggest benefit you’ve found from being part of Your Bromley BID? The BID plays a key role in shaping Bromley Town Centre and supporting the success of local businesses. Initiatives like organising events such as the Christmas lights switch-on, partnering with the police, and adding decorative touches to the area all enhance the customer experience and help create a welcoming atmosphere. For Rhino Boulder, one of the biggest benefits has been the BID’s ability to connect neighbouring businesses and encourage collaborative efforts, making Bromley a more exciting, unified, and inviting destination. Additionally, the BID’s promotion of local events and activities fills a crucial gap by keeping the community informed, especially without a dedicated tourist office or central bulletin for Bromley’s residents.

Tell us one fact about you that even your own team doesn’t know yet! My love for climbing has taken me to many beautiful places around the world but still I have a soft spot for our “local” crag: Portland. So much so, that I have been there hundreds of times, and once I also did the Portland Olympian challenge, where in a day you run 18K and climb one route at every one of the 14 crags along the island perimeter. My time was actually the slowest ever recorded for the challenge but I’m still proud of it!

Tell us how you came about collaborating with Contingent Works. We saw a natural synergy between our vision and Contingent Works’ coworking expertise. Since they’re just 50 meters away, it made sense to partner up and bring a coworking component to Rhino Boulder. Their expertise and top-tier coworking setup inspired us, and we’re thrilled to offer our members access to their Flex plan as part of our Work & Play membership.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about your business? Climbing is an incredible way to stay fit and connect with others, no matter your age or fitness level. At Rhino Boulder Ltd, we see everyone from families climbing together to individuals who come for a workout and discover a new passion. Many arrive just looking to try something new and end up staying for the community they find here. Climbing is more than a sport—it’s a way to bond, push personal limits, and be part of something special. We hope reading this inspires a few more people to drop by, give climbing a go, and experience all that our community has to offer!
