Your Bromley has been serving businesses in Bromley Town Centre for eighteen months, and now we’d like to hear from you about what you think so far of how we are delivering on the business plan we put to town centre businesses in November 2015. Please click on the link to complete the survey – it will take only about two minutes – and supply your contact details to be entered into a free draw for a £100 spend at any business in the Your Bromley BID area, as our way of saying thank you for your time.

Recycling – reduced overheads for fifty seven Bromley businesses

Fifty seven town centre businesses (so far) are already making savings in their overheads through free recycling funded by Your Bromley in partnership with The First Mile, an award winning waste collection company. Not only does this reduce costs for individual businesses, but the service within Bromley town centre has so far saved 11 trees, 30 tonnes of Co2 and produced 1375 KWH of energy. There’s still time for more businesses to come on board. With daily collections including weekends, and other low cost waste collection services also available, there’s everything to gain. John Westbrook, director at Raft Furniture, says “I signed up as soon as the First Mile Ambassador came into my shop and explained how it worked. It was very easy to sign up, their customer service is excellent. I’m really happy with the way it’s working and saving me money. I’ve no hesitation at all in recommending this service”. Savings of up to 40% on current costs for most participating businesses are anticipated. Call First Mile on 0800 612 9894 to find out how much the scheme could save you, and what other waste collection services you might be interested in signing up to.

Ambassador Service – now covering Saturdays.

We are testing providing the Ambassador service on Saturdays till the end of the calendar year and will make a decision then on whether to continue. Saturdays are by far the busiest day of the week in the town centre so having an Ambassador available to assist and direct visitors then makes a lot of sense. You’ll see our bowler hatted ambassadors in the High St often and sometimes visiting your business to let you know how your business can benefit from the latest initiative being rolled out by Your Bromley. Also introducing David, our new Ambassador. David joined existing Ambassador Stephanie in mid August and they each have their own patch to note environmental defects as well as updating businesses. If you’d like to book a business visit from an Ambassador please contact the team at Your Bromley.

BID Branded Hanging Baskets now in place

Forty Your Bromley branded double hanging baskets are now in place throughout the town centre. They provide additional greenery in town, with much colour in the summer months. The branding displayed on the baskets gives a clear message that Your Bromley is at the heart of the town as well as encouraging traffic to the Your Bromley website.

Night Ambassadors launching 13 Oct

A fourteen week pilot of Night Time Ambassadors at the weekends, working from 8.30 pm to 04.30 am, launched 13 October in partnership with Smart Security Services. Four SIA licensed people including one supervisor, specially selected for their calm and friendly personalities, will work in two teams and patrol the town centre providing assistance and directions to visitors, and assist security staff from clubs and pubs with dispersing customers at closing time. They’ll visit pubs and clubs, will carry Shop Safe radios so they will be in regular communication with Bromley Council’s CCTV centre and also Body-cams so any incidents they witness can be shared with businesses via the Your Bromley funded intelligence sharing Bromley Businesses Against Crime website.

Advisory Group meetings

The BID Advisory Group meets quarterly to review progress of the BID in delivering the pledges made to the businesses in November 2015, and to help with future BID activities. It’s made up of about 25 people from different business sectors of varying sizes across the BID area. There’s space for more businesses to join. If you are interested, perhaps by attending the next meeting which will be 31 October 14.00 to 15.30, please contact Frances Forrest, BID Manager.
