Step Inside at Orange Theory

The team at Your Bromley have been opening the door to introduce different people within your BID. Today we’re opening the door to Orangetheory to meet Head Coach Alex.

So, what is Orangetheory? It is a science-backed, technology tracked, coach-inspired group workout designed to produce results from the inside out... But what does that mean?

Orangetheory is a one-hour full body workout focused on the principles of endurance, strength, power or a combination of the three and every session is different. The heart rate technology tracked group workout is guaranteed to produce results due to the “Orange effect” or “Afterburn”. You work to YOUR heart rate therefore anybody can take part. We have all abilities from novice first timers to marathon runners, professional sportsmen/women and gym enthusiasts.

Over the last 15 years in the industry, I have taught different styles of individual and group exercise sessions, both of my own design and prescribed formatted sessions from some of the best-known group fitness brands and I can honestly say Orangetheory has been the most enjoyable, inclusive, engaging and yet challenging type of pre-formatted workout I have taught, delivering life changing results.

So how can we guarantee results and say our workouts are scientifically proven? Orangetheory is based on the principle of EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption) or as we call it “Afterburn”. The structure and type of exercises in each class are designed to provide moments of high intensity and recovery whilst targeting specific muscle groups for an all over workout. By spending 12 minutes or more in our “Orange Zone” – where your heart rate is at 84%+ of your personal maximum – over the next 24-36 hours your metabolic rate will be boosted, burning calories at a higher rate as it recovers. Because every session is different, you will never “plateau” as your body is subjected to a different stimulus every workout, resulting in lean muscle growth and fat burning.

The sessions are more like group personal training sessions than group exercise, led by experienced coaches we are always on hand, be it with improvements to form or words of encouragement at just the right time. By seeing your results in real time, they can adjust the intensity to help you earn those 12 all-important splat points – 1 for every minute in the “Orange Zone”.

From the moment you step into the studio, you are put at ease, the space is open, clean and welcoming. The workout space is well lit, but with an orange glow which adds a softness that means you never feel you’re in the spotlight and on show. There is a real sense of community with the members.
