SCHOOL WHEELBARROW COMPETITION SET TO BRING A SPLASH OF COLOUR TO BROMLEY TOWN CENTRE

For the second year running Your Bromley, the Business Improvement District for Bromley town centre, is bringing an injection of colour to Bromley with its school wheelbarrow competition. With even more schools taking part in 2018 the competition will be bigger and brighter this year.

On Friday 6th July wheelbarrows designed, decorated and planted by 38 schools from the Bromley area will be displayed in and around Market Square before the judging takes place on the morning of Saturday 7th July.

Every school taking part has been asked to decorate and plant a wheelbarrow that says something about their school, whether it uses the school colours, represents its values or portrays a strength of the school.

A judging panel will select winners in four different categories:

  • - Most Creative
  • - Best Interpretation of Theme
  • - Best Use of Colour
  • - Best Horticultural Barrow

There will also be a People’s Choice award for the most popular wheelbarrow, with voting taking place online while the wheelbarrows are on display.

Representatives from Coolings Garden Centre, who donated some of the plants, and Homebase, who donated the wheelbarrows will join the BID team on the judging panel. Teachers and pupils from the participating schools will join the judges for a presentation at 11am on the Saturday morning.

The wheelbarrows will then remain in Market Square until Monday 9th July when they will be relocated to various sites around the town centre.
