Bromley Town Centre’s Christmas Lights Switch On marked the start of the festive season with live entertainment, family activities, special guest appearances and a spectacular firework finale.

The event, which drew thousands of residents to the High Street, was delivered by Your Bromley – the town centre business community – with additional support for The Glades, The Churchill Theatre, and The Royal Bell.

Festivities began at The Glades, where performances from All the Arts and ballerinas accompanied the centre’s own Christmas lights switch-on. Crowds then moved to Bromley High Street, which hosted a packed schedule of performances from bands, local schools and community groups, including Parish C of E, Valley Primary, Highfield Primary, Skylark School, PQDA, Studio 74, Dance Worxs, The Kentones, and the Whisky & Wine Band.

The high street buzzed throughout the afternoon with roaming performers, festive market stalls, a Christmas bar, food vendors, and traditional funfair attractions such as a big wheel, helter-skelter and family rides.

This year’s event featured an impressive line-up of special guests. Stars from the Churchill Theatre panto took to the stage – Hi-de-Hi! star Su Pollard and ventriloquist Jamie Leahey, runner-up on Britain’s Got Talent 2022. Britain’s Got Talent winner and West End star Sydnie Christmas delivered a powerful live performance before joining Su, Jamie, the panto cast, and Your Bromley’s Local Hero, Jackie Stone, for the official Christmas lights countdown.

The Christmas light switch-on illuminated Bromley’s town centre, followed by a spectacular fireworks finale.

Your Bromley’s Chief Executive, Chris Travers, said: “We are delighted to see so many people come together to celebrate the start of the Christmas season. There has been a fantastic celebratory atmosphere throughout the day, so thanks to everyone who helped make this an occasion that Bromley can be proud of.”
