We are proud to announce Jackie Stone as Your Bromley’s Local Hero 2025.
Jackie Stone has been fostering for Bromley for 15 years. She is incredibly child-focused and really makes a difference to the lives of the children that she provides respite for. She is genuinely interested in getting to know the children she cares for her and they all speak very highly of her as a result. She is never phased by ‘challenging behaviour’ and can be relied upon to collect even the most vulnerable children from police stations and/or hospitals. Children love that she talks to them and many drop in to see her when they are in the area.
Although now 82 years old, Jackie continues to be one of Bromley’s most reliable, dependable and professional foster carers. She sits on the Fostering Advisory Partnership and also on the Children in Care Council. We are delighted to recognise her dedication to Bromley and the children of the borough.
As Bromley’s Local Hero, Jackie took to the stage at Your Bromley Switch On, alongside special guests – including Hi-de-Hi! star Su Pollard, young ventriloquist Jamie Leahey, and Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas – to lead the Switch On countdown. The moment, followed by a spectacular fireworks finale, was met with huge applause from the crowd gathered on the High Street.
Jackie also received the Bromley Christmas Prize Package, courtesy of The Glades Shopping Centre, The Churchill Theatre, and The Pavilion, as well as £250 to donate to a charity of her choice.
Your Bromley extends its warmest congratulations to Jackie and thanks all who took the time to nominate their community heroes.
